Lewis Alphonso James

Lewis Alphonso James, 79, went to be with his Lord on Friday, August 16, 2019 surrounded by his family.

There was a Memorial Service at 10:00am on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Christian Missions Church, Jacksboro, Texas.

Lewis was born on October 25, 1939 in Jacksboro to Preston Lawton James and Edna Eugene (Stanley) James. He married Carolyn Ann Potts on June 13, 1992.

Lewis served in several different roles in his life. He was a Deputy in Logan County, Colorado and then worked in the middle east while employed with Halliburton. Later he was a deputy in Erath County, Texas. He retired from Office Depot in loss prevention. During part of these times, he served as Alderman for the City of Jacksboro for a total of 3 terms between 1981 and 1992, then served as Mayor from 2011 to 2015.

Lewis is preceded in death by his parents.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn; children, Debra Lowe and husband John; Doug James and wife Alicia, Stephen James and wife Vanessa; sister, Katheryn Smith and husband Ed; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
