Laura Ellen McAnear

Laura Ellen McAnear passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in Jacksboro, Texas at the age of 87 years old.

She was born July 24,1929 in Jacksboro, Texas. She was the daughter of William Ernest and Anna Laura Scudder Rhoades. 

She married the late Eugene Thomas McAnear September 16,1947 in Jacksboro, Texas. Ellen worked at the Jack County Courthouse for many years until her retirement and was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksboro; Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and just celebrated 70 years as a Jacksboro High School Graduate of the Class of 1946.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Charles Ernest and grandson Tyler.

She is survived today by her children, Jan Robinson and husband Chuck; Bubba McAnear and wife Sylvia; Jane Ann Rhoten and husband James; Pam Fenter and husband Mark and Kelly McAnear and wife Melody; 10 grandchildren, Dawn, Donnie, Laurie, Missy, Scott, Wesley, Shelby, Leanne, Taylor and Alyson as well as 15 great grandchildren, Aspen, Chase, Logan, Landri, Landon, Layne, Laiken, Payton, Addyson, Kellen, Brady, J.R., Lita, Maddie, Grace and one great-grandchild expected in July.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 N. Knox Street, Jacksboro,Texas 76458 or Concerned Citizens of Jack County, 400 E. Pine Street, Jacksboro,Texas 76458.

Funeral Services were held Sunday, February 19, 2017 at First Baptist Church. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
