Kathlyn Jo Mealio Brumfield

Kathlyn Jo Mealio Brumfield was born Jan. 23, 1966 in Homestead, Fla., to William Frederick Mealio and Norma Kay Heath Mealio. She married Jeff Wayne Brumfield August 12, 1989 and they remained happily married for 31 wonderful years together. Jo is a mother to two children, Hannah Jo Ashley and Jonathan David Brumfield and “Mamaw” to grandson Aiden Layne Ashley. 

For over 15 years, she worked as a kindergarten teacher, librarian, elementary teacher, and special education teacher at her beloved Perrin-Whitt CISD, her alma mater. Jo also served for several years as an officer, on the Perrin Whitt school board, worked as an election judge for Jack County, and was a swimming aerobics instructor in Jacksboro. She loved teaching Sunday school, working with children, and spending time with her family, especially her newborn grandson. Jo was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Mineral Wells, where she volunteered and assisted with many ministries such as Sunday school teacher, VBS instructor, Leadership Training for Christ, Opportunity Camp registration, and would never miss the annual Fireman’s angel tree shop and wrap.

Jo entered into eternal life with Jesus on Feb. 1, 2020, at the age of 54. Memorial services were held Friday, Feb. 7 at 2 pm at Southside Church of Christ in Mineral Wells. Immediately following, she was laid to rest in Perrin Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Jeff Brumfield, Jonathan Brumfield, Travis Ashley, Marks Mealio, Scott Fowler, Sean Fowler, Zip Brazeal, Timothy Brazeal. Honorary pallbearer is her daddy Fred Mealio.

She is survived by her parents Fred and Kay Mealio; her beloved husband Jeff Brumfield; children Hannah Ashley and Jonathan Brumfield; siblings Becky Fowler and Marks Mealio; grandchild Aiden Ashley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and wonderful, cherished friends.
