Irene Owens, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, May 15, in Weatherford.
There was a Graveside Service at Gibtown Cemetery on Thursday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m.
Irene was born on Sept. 14, 1927 to J.B. Lewis and Ada Beck (Lewis) in Farmersville. Irene graduated high school at the young age of 16. She went on to marry the love of her life, John Virgil Owens, on Aug. 4, 1945 in Fort Worth. She was a member of Joplin Baptist Church where she also served as Secretary.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and son John Owens Jr; brothers, Bill Lewis, Gabe Lewis Jr., Jack Lewis, and Lane Lewis; sisters, Lucille Beck, Mural Lewis Horton, and Jo Claunce.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are sister in law, Laverne Lewis Prosser; niece Nita, along with several other nieces and nephews.
