Hubert Dearl Ballard was born May 5, 1940 in Poolville to Hubert and Alice (Pieratt) Ballard. He married his wife of 39.5 years, Judy Gafford Balled, on April 4, 1980 in Fort Worth. He worked security for Lockheed for over 30 years, was a lifetime cattle rancher and member of Gibtown Baptist Church. 

Hubert passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 in Jacksboro at the age of 79 years old.

A visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 19 at Gibtown Baptist Church with the funeral service following visitation. Burial was at the Gibtown Cemetery.

He is preceded in death by his parents and son Scott Ater.

Hubert is survived by his wife of 39.5 years, Judy Ballard; sons, Kevin Ballard and Brian Jernigan; grandsons, Kolton Ballard; Clayton Ballard and Gavin Jernigan; granddaughter, Heather Joplin; great grandchild, River Shane Joplin; sister, Lenora Jane Smethers; brother, Robert Ballard and his poodle, Lacie.
