Howard Miles Cole, 87, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 31 at First United Methodist Church in Jacksboro. A private burial will take place prior to the memorial service.

Howard was born in Detroit, Mich. on Jan. 5, 1934 to Herbert William Cole and Elizabeth (Miles) Cole. Howard was the second born of four children. Howard has an older brother, William George (Bill), a younger brother Herbert Clyde (Dick), and a baby sister Florence Elizabeth (Cole) Wicklund. When Howard was 12, he purchased a paper route from his older brother Bill for 25 cents a customer. One of the customers was the Steffen Family and their only daughter Maxine. Howard would marry Maxine on Sept. 13, 1958, and Bill would remind him that he got a heck of a deal for 25 cents.

Howard graduated from Lawrence Institute of Technology with a bachelor of Science in Industrial Management in June of 1958 and was drafted into the Army the following week. He and Maxine moved to Fort Sill, Okla. and in February of 1960 their daughter Kimberly Ann was born. Howards typing skills came in handy qualifying him for the job of secretary to the base commander for two years. After two years of service Howard and Maxine moved back to Detroit, and in 1963 their second daughter Lynn Cheryl was born. Howard enjoyed a long career with the Facet Filter division of the Bendix Aerospace Corporation. Howard helped develop applications for metal screen products in aerospace, chemical and other industries.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents along with his wife. His wife Maxine passed on January 10 and he couldn’t wait any longer than six days to be with her, again. Those left behind to cherish his memory are; daughters, Kimberly (Cole) Smith and husband Douglas, Lynn (Cole) Easter and husband Billy; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Smith, Julie (Smith) Brantley and husband Stafford, Jolynn Easter, Daniel Easter, and Marianne (Easter) Clark and husband Brady; Howards siblings; brother William George and wife Jo their children David and Susan (Cole) Makarov, brother Herbert Clyde and children Charles and Jane, Sister Florence and Husband Jim and their children Sheila Brookins, Rhonda Emery, and Carla Wicklund. Howard also has many other extended family and friends who will dearly miss him.
