Edgar Elmer Long

Edgar Elmer Long, 89, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020 in Graham.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Live Oak Baptist Church in Jacksboro. A funeral service immediately followed at 2 p.m.

Edgar was born May 20, 1930 in Jack County to James Robert Long and Fredonia Ann (Hayes) Long. He married Ava Juanita Damron on Oct. 7, 1950 in Loving. Edgar lived here in Jack County his entire life. He was a farmer, rancher and dozer operator for over 60 years. Edgar was a member of the Northside Church of Christ and several organizations including Texas Cattle Raisers Association, National Rifle Association, Texas Farm Bureau and the Truce Cemetery Association.

He loved to be outdoors hunting, fishing, and trapping hogs. Edgar also enjoyed writing songs, singing and playing his harmonica.

Edgar is preceded in death by his wife Juanita Long, parents James Robert and Fredonia, brothers

Robert, Orville, O.C., John; sisters Nora and Myrtle; son-in-law Edward Maxwell.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are children Rick Costanza and wife Arsie, Carolyn Smith and husband Rick, Darlene Maxwell, Donna Skinnell and husband Lee, Eddie Long and wife Sherry, Renitta Long, Sherry Long, and Kim Dungan and Fiance Steve Morris; along with 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
