Nov. 26, 1938 – Aug. 18, 2022

Eddie Wayne Gibson passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 26, 1938 to Dallas and Azilene Isbelle Gibson. Eddie graduated from Jacksboro High School in 1957 and went on to attend North Texas State University. He married Shirley Mason on June 24, 1961 in the Perrin Methodist Church.

Eddie worked for Mitchell Energy (Devon) as a Production Foreman and retired in 1995. Later he joined the Cholla Oil Company and Texall where he continued working until July of 2019, retiring at the age of 81. From there he continued his favorite past time, spending time with his family and working on his acreage caring for the coastal hay and livestock.

He had a passion for his family and a love for every one of them.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Shirley; son, Gregory Gibson and wife Andrea; daughter, Kathy and husband Donnie Rogers; grandson, Derek Gibson and wife Brittany; granddaughter, Amanda and husband Mike Hopkins; granddaughter Emily Rogers; great-grandchildren Scarlett and Caroline Gibson, Brodey Heckman, Madalynn Hopkins; and bonus great-grandchildren McKenna and Paul Hopkins, and Kynlee Montgomery; sister Carolyn Corder and two nieces; two special granddogs, Harley and Ransom; and a lifetime hunting buddy, David Duncan.

Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Baum-Carlock- Bumgardner Funeral Chapel.
