Betty Jane Awalt

Betty Jane Awalt passed away on Saturday November 12, 2016 in Jacksboro, Texas. She was 84 years old.

She was born on February 16, 1932 to Joseph Fredrick and Floy (Liles) Hildebrand in Vernon, Texas.

Betty married John Carl Awalt on August 4, 1978 at First Baptist Church in Jacksboro. She was a homemaker, retired ranch hand at the Jackson Ranch in Senate, Texas, and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Betty was very compassionate about giving back to her community. She volunteered many hours at the Clothes Closet prior to her entering the nursing home. She was a loving and kind mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many. She will be missed dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter Mary Jane; brothers George and Theodore Hildebrand; grandchildren Bradley Dale, Baby Girl King, Curtis Wayne, Stephen Brent, Chasity LaRae; and step-daughter Belinda Nan King.

Among those who will cherish her sweet memory include her children sons Richard Fredrick Nail and wife Stephanie of Como, Texas, Stephen Earl Nail and wife Anna of Mineral Wells, and Luther Randall Nail and wife Vonda of Jacksboro; daughters Patricia “Penny” King of Mt. Pleasant, Karen Faye Wells and husband Rob of Mineral Wells, and Kathryn Kay Shawver and fiance’ William Fenter of Jacksboro; brother Clyde Luther Hildebrand and wife Flo of Cleburne, sister-in-law Jewell Hildebrand of Vernon; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members and friends.
