Emma Gray had a little different holiday break than most teenage girls. Gray, a Jacksboro High senior, spent eight days in the Dominican Republic representing Team USA softball.
The last year was a busy one in Jack County. From state champs in Cheerleading, FFA and FCCLA, all the way to the best football season for the Jacksboro Tigers in more than 50 years, residents had a lot to celebrate in 2023.
After several winning seasons in volleyball, Bryson volleyball parents and former players expressed concern with the status of the Cowgirls’ volleyball program during the Bryson ISD school board meeting Monday, Dec. 18.
Much of last Wednesday’s Jack County Commissioners Court meeting was focused on a mileage check for a jailer. The jailer attended jail school in Fort Worth at the Tarrant County Jail using their personal vehicle for 28 days and ran up $2,865 in mileage charges.
Jack County Judge Keith Umphress told commissioners court attendees about the Monday, Dec. 18 meeting with both the court and Jacksboro city officials.
Filing for seats open in the March primary election ended earlier this month in Jack County, setting up three contested races. National, state and local seats are up for election during the primaries.
