Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds business owners that for many property types, April 15 is the deadline to file property tax renditions with their county appraisal districts. Different deadlines apply for certain regulated property.

Churches offering Lenten lunches

Jacksboro churches are offering Lenten lunches through Friday.

All meals will be served at 12 noon at the First United Methodist Church. This year’s theme is:recovery from crisis, reclaiming our faith with the offering going toward Concerned Citizens of Jack County.

Wednesday’s meal host is First Baptist Church with BBQ being served. Samantha Parson will preach with music by Karlene Boucher. Thursday Bible, Live Oak and Southwest Baptist will combine with the Light for a salad luncheon. Broderick Sargeant will preach with Christian Missions providing the music.

Racial profiling report given

Jacksboro Police Chief Scott Haynes gave his annual racial profiling report to the city council during their March 22 meeting.

The department made 1,408 traffic stops during the year 2020, 27 of those resulted in a search of the vehicle. 78 percent of the stops were for white driver’s, 16 percent Hispanic, and five percent Black.

Every state in the union has battles between colleges.

Mine was no different, as Michigan and Michigan State usually took a back seat to Michigan and Ohio State. Michigan-MSU was usually good but much more friendly than Michigan-OSU which got downright nasty every year.

In 1987, we went to Columbus in my one-year old Buick Century that my parents had bought. I was up in the press box at Ohio Stadium thinking the vehicle was safe. Uh, wrong.
