Wind, friend and foe!

Setting on a hillside in Palo Pinto County last week on the Dale River Ranch, I overlooked a little valley that led down to a creek that joined the Brazos a half mile or so to the north. My goal was to use my trusty old box call to entice a gobbler out of the heavy cover. On my way driving into the ranch, I stopped at a low water crossing to change into my camo and when I shut the truck door, I heard several gobblers sounding off closeby.

One down, one to go Work on first responder park beginning

Eugene Weldon had a plan of building two memorials honoring both veterans and first responders. He had the first built and dedicated in 2018 when the military portion was completed.

Work has begun on the first responder portion near the veteran memorial behind the Chamber of Commerce building, Weldon said. He spoke to the Jacksboro Lions Club April 14 and said with a dedication date of Sept. 11, funding is needed to complete the project which will run along Lost Creek.

Bryson Robotics wins regional title

BRYSON – With no physical competition this year, you might think Bryson’s Robotics team might slack off after an appearance at State two years ago.

You’d be wrong.

Their robot took a semester to build after 72 rebuilds. There was no judging just voting against up to Class 6A schools. Once again, these Cowboys were undaunted and managed to win a regional title.
