Come spend an evening under the big top in Jacksboro with the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus featuring acts with big cats, performing dogs, high-flying aerialists and trapeze artists and more.

Sponsored by the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce, the circus comes to the Twin Lakes Community Activity Center for two performances starting at 5 and 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 23.

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kylee Stokey said inviting the circus was an exciting way to engage the community with family-friendly fun appropriate for any age.

Tickets are available at the Green Frog, City Drug Store, Jacksboro National Bank and the Market at Tandy Hall.

The community is invited to watch the team raise the big top and bring in show animals starting at 9:30 a.m. the morning of the event, then stay for a free tour offering a unique peek behind the curtain as the team sets up for the show.

Walk the circus grounds, learn about performers, trainers and the animals they care for, as well as everything that goes on behind the scenes at each performance.

The midway opens an hour before showtime offering concessions and entertainment, including pony rides, face painting and more.

Billed as America’s favorite big top circus, Culpepper and Merriweather’s one-ring show has been providing entertainment since its beginning in 1985.

Now the circus performs 32 weeks each year, travelling to more than 200 locations across 17 states.
