TNT ready to blow

Wed, 06/01/2022 - 5:00 am

An annual tradition is still gathering steam for another year.

Jacksboro’s TNT Fest is set for Saturday, June 25 with some new events and holdovers as well.

One of the new events is the Pickleball Tournament running June 24-26 at the Fair Barn beginning at 9 a.m. each day. Leslie Jackson with the City of Jacksboro said pickle ball has become increasingly popular and promoters want to teach people more about the event.

Nine courts will be placed inside the Fair Barn at a time. Mens, women’s and co-ed teams are eligible. Brackets will be broken down into intermediate and advanced.

Entry is $80 a team with entries being limited. All proceeds will go toward the skate park construction.

For those who want something a little less stressful, baseball fans can watch the TNT Fest baseball tournament, sponsored by the Jacksboro Youth Sports Association, for players 8U-14U. The tournament runs June 25-26 at the Jacksboro Sports Complex.

Later in the afternoon Jack County STOMP is sponsoring chicken poop bingo for a 5 p.m. start near the pavilion. There will be 100 squares available for purchase at $20 each with the winner getting $500. Tickets can be purchased at the event or by calling 940-507-5110.

At 6 p.m. the always popular baby beautiful contest is scheduled. Divisions will be split up every three months up to two years of age based on a baby’s age on July 1, 2022. Register at City Hall before June 25 or at the stage the day of the event.

Following the contest, 80s cover band Tempting Disaster will take the stage around 7 p.m. Fireworks, always a crowd favorite, will begin around 9:30 p.m.

Nearly a dozen food vendors have signed up including Funky Munky and Kona Ice. Others can still sign up by calling 940-567-6321. Anyone wishing to sponsor an event can do so as well by calling the same number.
