FFA members from all three county schools traveled to Huntsville to compete in Texas FFA’s Leadership Career Development Events, held Thursday, Dec. 1 through Saturday, Dec. 3.
Each of these teams qualified for the state competition by finishing first or second in one of the state’s 66 district competitions and first or second in one of 12 area competitions.
The semi-final round hosts the top 24 teams in the state and the finals round hosts the top 10 teams in the state. More than 5,000 entries began the statewide-tournament in 15 different events which reflect classroom instruction in basic leadership skills.
Perrin-Whitt FFA
Perrin’s LDE Radio Broadcasting Team was able to defend its state title from a year ago out of 764 teams. The team consisting of Dylan Hinkle, Jaylee Holmes and Tom Bethune were advised by Jacob Lange Perrin FFA advisor and ag instructor.
TheGreenhandQuizteam of Dillion Carter, Joe Welch, Alexis Dean and Yeimy Moran finished Reserve State Champ out of 701 teams. Moran was the high point individual in their competition.
Moran and the Greenhand Chapter Conducting team finished 10th overall out of 203 teams. Other team members included Cole Keeney, Travis Welch, Joe Welch, Case Lambert, Dillon Carter and Isabella Laurence.
The Ag Issues finished in the top 24 but missed the finals. Team members were Wyatt Keeney, Riley Richerson, Ryan Richerson, Makenna Mathis, Leddy Hill and Dylan Trammell.
Public Relations also finished in the top 24 out of 391 teams, but missed the finals. Team members are: Rylee Gifford, Jack McCormick, Ryan Elrod and Summer Burkett.
Bryson FFA
Bryson FFA placed 5th in the Job Interview Contest out of 615 teams. The team consisted of one member, Jacie Pennington.
Jacksboro FFA
Jacksboro FFA made the semi-final round in the Agriculture Issues Contest out of 203 teams. Team members included: Kolyn Besselaar, Eli Jonas, Keelyn Merworth, Allie Robinson, and Eric Pizana Jacksboro FFA placed 10th in the Greenhand Skills Contest out of 279 teams. Team members included: Kylie Johnson, Kesli Lazarine, and Paisley Scarborough Jacksboro FFA placed 6th in the Senior Skills Contest out of 459 teams. Team members included: Emma Gass, Layla Joslin, and Kyler Swan.
