LTRC receives over $17,000 in donations

Wed, 07/13/2022 - 5:00 am

Members of the Long Term Tornado Recovery Committee accepted checks from a pair of groups during its July 7 meeting.

A recent concert at Possum Kingdom Lake brought in $4,018 which was presented by Holly McCool. That was followed by the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce officials presenting a check for $13,224.74 as proceeds from the “Famous for Serving” event where law enforcement officers served the public for tips which were then donated to the LTRC.

In another important move, Chairman Joel Hood introduced case managers Susan Coley and Sandra Dixon, both retired educators. The pair will be working with those whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the March 21 tornado.

Each will be going by all the homes to determine what is needed and encourage those to try and get some funding from the LTRC. Case Managers will receive their first training July 18 and be going around to the homes soon after.

Hood reminded committee members checks will not be automatically given to everyone but will be analyzed and the request gone over for need. He also asked committee members to start going to other civic groups and charitable organizations for possible monies.

Committee members spoke to the Jacksboro Vision group earlier this week.
