Jack County residents in need of help with their pregnancy can contact the Jacksboro Pregnancy Center.

Center Executive Director Julie Hopkins spoke to Lions Club members Oct 12. She said the center helps with all sorts of pregnancy related items including formula, diapers, wipes, cribs, car seats and others up to the age of one.

The center, which has been open since September 2021, offers services such as counseling in positive praise for life format. For those that have had an abortion, the center also has a post abortion support group.

The center is not just for women, Hopkins explains. Men came in with their girlfriends or wives as well. They like to talk about their relationships and/or marriage.

The center is looking for volunteers in wither areas of counseling or in the storage facility. It is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Faith Community Hospital in the location of the former gift shop. Hopkins said the center is looking to open two days a week around the first of the year.

The center uses the Live Oak Baptist Church for its storage and can be accessed at any time for those in dire need supplies. Donations of new or gently used items are always needed. Hopkins knows a few things about being a volunteer as she started as one 10 years ago before moving to client services director and now the executive director.

The center is trying to get the word out now as it has had just four clients in the past year. If needed, the center refers them to a doctor in town or a doctor at the hospital.

The Lions Club’s next meeting will be at noon Wednesday, Oct. 26 at the Lions’ Den.
