Local sales tax allocations continue to trend upward locally and statewide, with acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announcing Wednesday, July 9 its office would distribute $1.2 billion to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts—that number up 4.5% over July 2024 allocations.
Jacksboro received $187,919.09, up 30.86% from sales tax allocations received in July 2024. To date, Jacksboro has received $1,135,068.73 in sales and use taxes for the year—that number up 15.96% over this time last year.
Bryson received $6,460.65, up 8.96% from sales tax allocations received in July 2024. To date, Bryson has received $53,686.87 in sales and use taxes for the year—that number up 14.69% over this time last year.
Across the state cities received a total of $725.9 million in local sales tax allocations in July, up 4.4% over July 2024. Transit systems received $242.7 million, up 3.6% while counties received $70.7 million, up 4.2%, and special purpose districts received $116 million, up 7%.
July allocations were based on sales made in May by businesses that report tax monthly.
