Jacksboro ISD has unveiled its new website which it hopes will give employees a chance to update the public more on what it is doing.

Director of Technology Brett Thomas and Instructional Technology Director Kristi Daws have been working on the website (www.jacksboroisd.net), which was unveiled earlier this summer, for the last six months or so. Daws was in charge of developing and working on the content of the site while Thomas was tasked with developing the design of the site.

Thomas said the primary reason for the new site was to give teachers an easier way to update positive things going on in the district. The very user friendly format can be operated with an app, Thomas said.

Through the app, teachers can shoot video and upload content, be it something going on in their classroom or at an event. Once it is approved by their campus administrator, it immediately goes out not only to the website’s news and video feeds portion but to the campus’ social media platforms.

This will not be available to the public to send to administrators the things they see but will give the district a chance to outline the positive things going on in the classroom.

“This is not for the public to use,” Thomas explained. “We want to make sure the right content is getting out to the public.”

The video on the website will be updated about once a month, Thomas said. Each video will always be available on the news feeds section in case someone misses it.

Another new feature of the website is the Spotlight Section. Once a month, a new community member, student and teacher will be spotlighted that has gone above and beyond. Thomas said it can be a team as well as a person.

The website also allows for events to be fed into the Google Calendar for the website to have it automatically. The website will now look more professional on any platform, be it phone, Mac, PC or others.

There are still some tweaks and kinks to be made and worked out and that will be done as the school year goes on, Thomas said
