JCSO seeking info on body

On Monday, Sept. 26, at approximately 9:51 a.m. Jack County Sheriff’s Deputies, and officers from Jacksboro Police Department were dispatched to the 300 Block of US Highway 281 South on an Unattended Death call.

A resident had contacted the JCSO Communications Center to report what the resident believed to be a deceased person in a grassy area adjacent to the roadway.

On arrival, law enforcement officers observed a deceased person, later positively identified as Nancy Smith, a 26-year-old female resident of Jacksboro. The decedent was transported to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office to undergo an autopsy.

Currently, there is no active threat to the community or surrounding area. The death is under investigation.
