Christmas festivities in Jacksboro will start tomorrow night.

Festivities will start at 5 p.m. with the annual Christmas Parade beginning at 6 p.m. with lineup on Oakwood Street beginning at 5:30 p.m. A new event will start at 5:30 p.m. with the Jack County Tornado Recovery group sponsoring the Cookie Crawl around the courthouse.

Organizer Alinda Cox said a number of churches and volunteers have donated several different varieties of cookies and will be manning different tables around the Courthouse. For $20 a dozen or $35 for two dozen, boxes can be purchased along with a set of gloves which allows buyers to pick the kind of cookies they want.

Cookies will be accepted up until Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. Those willing to donate can contact Cox at 567-2132 or at ar-cox@tamu.edu.

The lighting of the courthouse Christmas tree will take place just before the parade. The parade will run down Oakwood before heading south on Main. A left will be taken around the Courthouse before proceeding north on Church and back to Oakwood.

Following the parade, which will include a visit from Santa Claus, pictures can be taken with Santa at JR’s Chophouse in the Courtyard area. Entries for the parade will be accepted until Dec. 1 at noon by contacting Leslie Jackson at City Hall by calling 940-5676321, faxing entry forms to 940-567-2590 or email to ljackson@cityofjacksboro.com.

There is little time left to enter your home or business in the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas decorating contest. Entitled “Get Lit, Jacksboro” the entry deadline is Thursday, Dec. 1 with only outside decorations being judged that can be seen from the roadway.

A public judging will be done through a QR code on the yard sign of the entry. The public can scan the QR code to vote for that entry. Judging will begin Dec.2-Dec. 15. Winners will be contacted and the public noti_ed on Dec. 16.

Entry fee is $10 and can be done on the Jacksboro chamber website (jacksborochamber. com/get-listjacksboro). Residences must be within Jack County. Payment can be taken in person at the chamber, through Venmo (@Jacksboro Chamber) or an online invoice sent via email.
