ChiliFest set for this Saturday
An autumn tradition around Jacksboro is set for this Saturday on the north side of the courthouse square.
The Chamber of Commerce ChiliFest is scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. downtown. While the name signifies chili, there are also awards for best decorated cooking crib, salsa, cornbread, beans and pie as well. Vendors will also be on hand displaying their wares and also give some early Christmas gift ideas as well.
Also part of the fun will be live entertainment by Troy Allen from 5 to 7 p.m. The entry fee for compete in chili is $40 with the other entry fees $10. For entry, sponsorship of vendor booth information contact the Chamber at 567-2602.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
• Cooks meeting 2:45 p.m.
• Cooking time 3-5 p.m.
• Troy Allen 5-7 p.m.
• Judging 5 p.m.
• Tasting from the public 5:30-7 p.m.
• Awards 7 p.m. Awards this year will be $250 and an etched cutting board for the winner, $200 for 2nd place, $150 for third and the people’s choice winner will get $100.
