The Jack County commissioners signed an order of special election Monday, Sept. 8 for the Tuesday, Nov. 4 election. The judge signed a joint election agreement and contract for election services between the county and Perrin-Whitt CISD for a bond election.
The $28,220,000 bond focuses on maintaining aging facilities, enhancing campus safety and security and expanding student engagement.
Renovations at the elementary school include American Disabilities Act and life safety code-compliance upgrades like upgrading and incorporating fire suppression and alert systems and restroom upgrades and reconfiguration. Classrooms would also be resized and interior lighting would be upgraded.
The construction of a new cafeteria would include a performing arts stage and storm shelter and a new career and technical education/Ag shop and audio/visual lab would house classrooms with workshop space for the district’s CTE and Ag programs.
The bond would also address restrooms and concession stands at athletic facilities and resodding the football field.
If the bond passes, the district projected a tax impact of $0.31, meaning the average home in PWCISD valued at $207,560 would have an impact of $209.40 annually.
