Hundreds come out to ‘Meet the Tiger’

Tue, 08/31/2021 - 5:22 pm

An annual tradition at cities across the state, Jacksboro fans came out to Meet the Tiger Aug. 23 at Tiger Stadium.

Both Jacksboro Middle School and Jacksboro High School athletes were introduced in the Fall sports of football, volleyball, and cross country. Of course, it wouldn’t be an event without performances from both the band and the cheerleaders who were also introduced.

Athletic Director and head football coach Brannon Rodgers also introduced his coaches including new volleyball coach Kelli Barnett, who is in her first year at the school. He said workouts for all the kids have been going very well and he hopes for a great athletic year for the district as a whole.

The kids were then introduced. Things moved very quickly as all the kids were introduced in just about an hour.

Then the “fun” part of the evening started as parents and fans hit the field to get pictures of their favorite Tigers and Tigerettes.

One seventh grader, in his first Meet the Tiger, was blown away by everything. His teammate said “wait until they start getting pictures of all of us. It’s a lot of fun.”

Many of the middle school games will start in the near future. The volleyball teams started Monday at City View and will have their first home game Sept. 9 vs. Nocona. The football teams will begin Sept. 9 at home vs. Paradise.
