A complete package
Coaches have been talking about getting their offenses and defenses together to put together the complete package for years.
Friday night, in front of a large throng of Homecoming Night fans, Jacksboro did just that, putting together 422 yards and coming through with a trio of first half turnovers to post a 40-16 win over Wichita Falls City View.
The Tigers won their second straight to go to 2-1 while City View drops to 1-3.
Jacksboro got off on the right foot, marching to pay dirt on its opening drive. A 26-yard strike to Peyton Kinman would set up Baylor Laake’s 14-yard run around the right side which had dive into the end zone just ahead of defenders. City View blocked the point after and returned it for a safety.
Three plays into the ensuing drive, Kade Dennis came through with an interception and returned it for a score to extend the lead to 12-2. City View was hit twice with procedure calls on the next drive but managed to get the ball to Kendrick Gibson on a pass. Gibson fumbled the ball which was recovered by Domanik Hammond at the Tiger 49.
City View would take a Tiger punt and march 63 yards in three plays, ending on a Jeremiah Durham 29-yard run to draw within 12-9 late in the first quarter.
