Nellie Gifford, 88, passed away Monday, Sept. 27 in Graham. Graveside funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29 at Rock Creek Cemetery in Jack County. Arrangements are with Morrison Funeral Home.

Nellie was born June 9, 1933 in Bryson to the late Martha Bennett Hill and Jess Sanderson. She married Ben Nolan “Blackie” Gifford. He preceded her death in 1982. Nellie and Blackie operated the Phillips 66 Station in Jacksboro for many years. Nellie was a lifetime resident of Bryson.

Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Armstrong and husband Jimmy, of Olney; son, Roger Dale Gifford, of Odessa; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; infant son Kenneth Gifford; brother Tommy Sanderson; sister Pauline Burgess; three stepsons, Jerry, Ronnie, and Curtis Gifford; and a special friend John B. Holland.
