Sheriff's race moves to runoff, incumbents retain positions

T-Bob Hauger and RC Langford will move to a runoff election for Jack County Sheriff while incumbents Constable Clyde Watson and Precinct 1 Commissioner Gary Oliver will keep their positions after the release of the unofficial March primary election results.

County voters came out in droves to cast their ballots with nearly 39% voting overall, according to the Jack County Election Administrator’s Office.

Hauger received 842 votes, or 40.91% with Langford getting 654 votes, or 31.78%. The third candidate running for the position, Banning Sweatland, had 562 votes, or 27.31%

In the constable race Watson, who has been in the office for seven years, picked up 1,131 votes or 56.1% of the vote. His opponents Alvin Bilby and David VanderKaay had 465, or 23.07%, and 420, or 20.8%, respectively.

Oliver won back his position with 331, or 70.3% of the vote with challenger Tim Ogle receiving 140, or 29.72% of the vote.

In statewide races, House District 68 incumbent David Spiller won his home county with 1,727 votes, or 82.43% of the vote with challenger Kerri Kingsbery getting 368 votes, or 17.57%.

In unopposed local races, County Attorney Brad Dixon, Precinct 3 Commissioner Henry Birdwell and County Republican Party Chairman John Berry all will keep their positions. John Barry IV will remain as county Democratic Chair as he ran unopposed.
