Museum to host drive tour, ghosts Oct. 15

Thu, 09/29/2016 - 4:31 pm

When the temperatures start to cool, it’s time for the annual Jack County Museum Driving Tour.

This year’s tour will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 and will feature history of skirmishes, scouts, legends and a secret still.

Tickets are $10 per person for adults and $2 for children from 6 to 15 years old. Maps and CDs of the tour are available at the museum and a Jack County Historical Commission member will greet visitors at each site.

There are six main sites on the self-paced driving tour and many others to be viewed along the way.

The tour will include a discussion on James Dosher who was awarded the Medal of Honor. Other locations on the tour include the final resting place of Billy Kutch, a tour of a rock house rumored to have been the site of a still, a frontier fort and the birthplace of 4-H.

Also that day, the museum will host its Ghosts of Jack County dinner. The ghosts will start arriving at the Jack County Museum at 5 p.m. A dinner of Spooky Stew and cornbread along with scary desserts will be available. After the dinner, the ghosts will present tales of their past when they lived in Jack County.
