Jacksboro High School seniors experience “real life”

Jacksboro High School students participated in “adulting” classes Oct. 23, after their college day in Graham.

JHS counselor Dori Taylor said the classes were part of an all-day event involving upperclassmen. She said the events were to better prepare students for life after high school.

“The event was really two parts,” Taylor said. “The seniors and juniors had the opportunity to sign up for the college fair in Graham. If they did not have discipline problems or grade problems, we took them over to Graham, where there were around 40 different schools for them to look at including trade and technical schools.”

Jacksboro senior Andinet Longoria said the college fair helped her realize how many options there are.

“I found out a lot of information,” she said. “I found out how many colleges I could really be looking at instead of the few that are just off the top of my head.”

When the students came back, the seniors had an opportunity to take classes on preparing for life after high school. The classes included things like interview skills, anxiety solutions and car care.
