Back to Basics Fair set for Friday

    The Back to Basics Fair will offer a variety of presentations hourly including one at noon on composting.

The Back to the Basics Fair, sponsored by Texas Agriflife Extension Service and Faith Community Hospital, is scheduled April 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jack County Fair Barn.

Speakers are scheduled hourly beginning at 9 a.m. with rainwater harvesting presented by Palo Pinto County Extension Agent Scott Mauney. At 10 a.m. a session on composting is scheduled. At 11 a.m., a wine making class taught by James Rice is on tap.

Jack County Extension Agent Charlie Martin will host a class on small land and animal management. Beginning at noon with Alinda Cox, Jack County Extension Agent/Family and Consumer Science showing everyone how to repurpose items with a 1 p.m. seminar.

Also on the agenda are a farmer’s market, gardening tips, other demonstrations and vendors. The event is free and open to the public. For information, contact Kristy Holman at kholman@fchtexas.com
