Anytime you can have a poor night shooting and still pull out a convincing win is a good night.
Bryson’s boys shot just 30% (12-of-40) in the first half and managed to have a 31-9 lead at halftime. The big lead helped as visiting Prairie Valley caught a hot hand in the second half to make things interesting. The Cowboys pulled away late, however, in a 68-39 victory.
Bryson coach Mark McCorkle was willing to take the win but not without reservations.
A slow start by the Bryson Cowgirls was never recovered from Tuesday, Dec. 10 in a 40-19 loss at Archer City.
Braydee Thorne’s 3-pointer got Bryson on the board and the Cowgirls received nothing else offensively as the Lady Cats led 11-3 three minutes into the contest. Bryson had its chances but went 0-4 from the free throw line early.
A pair of runs in the first half for Bryson enabled the Cowboys to begin pulling away Tuesday, Dec. 10from host Archer City, the visitors posting a 63-45 win.
The Wildcats got out to a quick 5-1 lead. Jameson Pierce’s four free throws and an Evan Ford 3-pointer put the Cowboys up 8-5. Pierce added a late basket with Maurice Reiter’s free throw which made a difference as Bryson took an 11-10 lead after one.
