Perrin girls fall to Newcastle

After a convincing win over Bryson in its district opener, Perrin’s girls basketball team headed home Tuesday, Jan. 7 to face defending state champion Newcastle.

The Lady Pirates held tough for a while but solid defense by the Lady ‘Cats led to easy baskets and enabled the visitors to post a 55-33 win. Perrin is now 10-11 overall and 1-1 in district with Newcastle going to 13-8 and 2-0.

Perrin boys rout Newman Academy

Finding a shooting groove can take some time, even for the best of teams.

Perrin’s boys basketball team has had its issues throughout the season finding the basket but still managed a 17-5 record heading into a Tuesday, Jan. 7 contest with visiting Newman Academy. The Warriors jumped out to an early 4-0 lead before the Pirates found their shooting niche, closing the first quarter on a 28-5 run.
