Bryson’s girls stayed within five at halftime Friday, Jan. 17 against Throckmorton but scored just two free throws in the second half to enable the host Lady ‘Hounds to take a 37-13 win.

Tigerettes beat Lady ‘Cats, 51-43
Jacksboro’s girls basketball team stayed in the thick of the playoff hunt with a 51-43 home court win Friday, Jan. 17 over Henrietta The Tigerettes withstood a fourth quarter comeback by the Lady Cats who were down 44-29 to start the fourth quarter.
Whitfill, Brown, Collier named Athletes of the Week
Each week, the Jacksboro Herald-Gazette will recognize one athlete from each Jack County school as the Herald’s Athletes of the Week. The Herald’s Athletes of the Week are Grady Brown of Jacksboro, Joslyn Whitfill of Bryson, and Kannan Collier of Perrin.
Tigers get past Henrietta, 60-53
Jacksboro’s boys basketball team moved into 3rd place in District 7-3A by withstanding a 4th quarter comeback by Henrietta to post a 60-53 win Friday, Jan. 17.

Bryson girls lose to Woodson
Another slow start plagued Bryson’s girls basketball team, the Cowgirls not scoring until the final 30 seconds of the first half against visiting Woodson. Once the squad got rolling, it was able to match the Cowgirls point for point Tuesday, Jan. 14 but ultimately suffered a 32-17 setback.
Woodson got out to a 15-0 lead before a Joslyn Whitfill free throw put Bryson on the board. A steal on the ensuing possession turned into a Whitfill putback at the buzzer, cutting the halftime deficit to 15-3.

Bryson wins battle of Cowboys, 50-38
Bryson used an 11-point first quarter from Caleb Allen to take control Tuesday, Jan. 14 against visiting Woodson and overcame an injury to senior Evan Ford to post a 50-38 win.
Ford suffered a hand injury early in the game that required stitches after the game. He was unable to play very much but came through big time defensively late.

Cowboys beat Bobcats, 64-50
A big first half offensively enabled Bryson’s boys basketball team to get out to an early lead it never relinquished Friday, Jan. 10, the Cowboys opening district play with a 64-50 win over host Newcastle.
Lady Pirates roll over Cowgirls, 48-37
Perrin’s girls used a solid first half offensively Friday, Jan. 10 to gain control of a road game in Woodson and post a 48-37 win over the Cowgirls.
