Wed, 01/20/2021 - 5:00 am

While not the convincing road win Jacksboro’s girls opened District 7-3A with a month ago, the Tigerettes will get the season sweep over City View with a 49-43 win over the visiting Lady Mustangs Saturday afternoon.

City View actually took a 13-10 lead into the second quarter. Jacksboro had balanced scoring with Traci Berend converting from outside the arc with Alex Holman getting three points with a basket and free throw. Brynn Pardue and Avery Bennett each had baskets.

The squads were tied at 22 at the half, Bennett leading the Tigerette charge with four points in the frame. Holman, Teagan Reynolds, Jaci Gann each had baskets while Berend converted a pair of free throws.

City View outscored Jacksboro 9-8 in the third to take a 31-30 into the final stanza. Holman started what would be a big second half for the senior by scoring six of her team’s eight third quarter points. Kylie Tullous added the other bucket.

In the final frame, Jacksboro outscored the visitors 19-12. Holman had 10 points with Tullous adding four to lead the team. Jacksboro was 7-10 at the free throw line in the final frame with Berend converting all three of her attempts.

Holman had 16 of her 20 points in the final two quarters to lead the Tigerettes.

Jacksboro hosted Nocona Tuesday night. No results were available at press time.
