Perrin pounds Three Way to earn playoff berth

Perrin earned a playoff berth in its resounding win against Three Way Oct. 26, beating the Braves in straight sets.

Perrin dominated the opening set, with senior Kelli Tucker and freshman Aaliyah Brown scoring a majority of the points. Tucker had three aces to start the set and Brown had four kills and a tap-over to give the Lady Pirates an early 8-0 lead.

Early leads would be the theme of the match as the Lady Pirates never trailed in the match.

“We took care of business,”Perrin coach Rebekah Bland said. “It’s always good to get a win and hopefully we can get some confidence going into our next game and then playoffs.”

The lead continued to rise in the first set with two straight aces from Brown and two kills from middle hitter Nayeli Lopez to bring the lead to 13-3. The Lady Pirates scored on four more aces in the set including two more from Brown that ended the set in a 25-11 win.

The second and third sets were more of the same for Perrin, with Tucker getting two more aces to start the set and Brown scoring with a kill and an ace for an early 9-2 lead.
