Perrin lifters qualify for State
PERRIN – For Brianna Bryant, it’s a chance at redemption. For Tristen Barbare, it’s a chance to leave high school on a high note.
The Perrin High pair qualified for the State Powerlifting Championships in their respective divisions during regional meets earlier this month. Bryant, a sophomore, will compete in the 114-pound class in Waco this weekend while Barbare, a 220-pound senior, will compete in Abilene March 23-24.
Bryant was 2nd place at regionals in the Class 2A division lifting a combined 545 pounds but admits she is more excited this year than last.
“I was more nervous last year,” Bryant said. “This year I am just more excited because I know what to expect and just want to get a medal.”
