Perrin Lady Pirates fall late to Olney Lady Cubs
PERRIN – The Lady Pirates and visiting Olney battled for three quarters Monday, Nov. 25, Olney fighting to stay close for most of the game.
Tied at 23 heading to the final quarter, the Lady Cubs used their first three-pointer of the game to begin the pulling away process. Perrin missed its last five shots from the floor with Olney having its best shooting frame of the game to post a harder than it looked 39-31 win over the hostesses.
Olney led in the opening seconds before Perrin took the lead for most of the next three quarters. A three-pointer from Ashleigh Ponkoney put the visitors up 26-25. Nayeli Lopez came through with a pair of buckets to give Perrin back the lead at 29-27 with 4:40 to go.
The Lady Cubs closed on a 12-2 run, free throws from Lopez and Mary Norton, the only Pirate points the rest of the game. Olney was 5-8 shooting in the final quarter (14-43 for the game) with Perrin going 2-11 late (12-37 for the game).
