Munday speed too much in 68-0 bi-district setback
WICHITA FALLS – "It's a great place to start."
Perrin Coach Joe Merrett made the comment after guiding his troops to their first playoff game since 2009. Unfortunately for the Pirates, their first round opponent was No-5 Munday, which used its speed to score 38 first quarter points and never look back in a 68-0 Class 2A bi-district victory Friday at Veterans' Field.
Perrin, which finished fourth in District 8-2A Division II, finishes at 5-6 while the Moguls, which put up 521 total yards (458 of that coming on the ground on 45 carries) are now 10-1.
Merrett, who closes his first year, said there are plenty of reasons for optimism for the future.
Perrin, which put up 125 yards of offense, was led by senior tailback Tristan Barbare, who rushed 24 times for 92 yards.
