Perrin boys fall to Midway
Heading into its first playoff game in generations, Perrin was noticeably loose before Tuesday night’s bi-district game with Midway, going about its business in warmups like it was just another day.
Once the game started, however, the Falcons used big man Blake Osterman to take early control with a 13-point first quarter lead. Perrin came storming back, however and made a game of it into the final minutes. The Pirates are still looking for their first playoff win since 1946 but gave Midway all it wanted in an eventual 48-43 Region III-A game at Jacksboro.
Perrin, the No.-2 seed out of District 21-A, finishes at 11-16 while Midway, the No.-3 seed out of District 22-A, moves on to face Saltillo at 16-15. Pirate Coach Max Hefner said his players had nothing to hang their heads about.
“We were flat early on and probably a little nervous before we decided to go at it,” the second-year mentor offered. “I take my hats off to Midway, that (Osterman) kid has some skills and a definite nose to the ball.”
