Perrin boys beat Petrolia
OWIE — An opportunistic team like Perrin knows what to do in a pinch.
Leading 2-1 in the bottom of the 6th, the Pirates had a runner at third and one out. Perrin had just one hit to this point but had manufactured walks into runs throughout the evening. Chace Talley finally put bat to ball and laid down a slow chopper to shortstop, beating the throw to first and getting Mason Bowland home from third in the process, giving the squad an insurance run.
Francis and Brigham Richardson worked one-out walks and then moved up 90 feet thanks to a balk.
A free pass to Aidan Sims plated the run to knot the game at one. With runners at the corners, Mataska was called for another balk, plating Richardson for a 2-1 lead.
