Wells lifts at State Saturday
If it’s one word that Jacksboro senior powerlifter Josh Wells uses often to discuss his lifting experience, it’s frustrating.
He wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Wells has been lifting for all four years of high school. He started in middle school for a reason a lot of people can relate to.
“I was a little guy who wanted to be big,” Wells said. “I weighed about 115-120 pounds and have gained maybe an inch or two (in height) since then, but I’ve gotten thicker.”
He enjoyed it, so he carried it on into high school making it to regional all four times, but missing his freshman year because of a previously scheduled trip.
He got close to State both previous times but fell short, which was “frustrating.”
This year, he tried a different training technique which the coaches brought to him.
