Tigers knocked out by Peaster
Peaster 5, Jacksboro 1 (9 innings)
In a hard-fought battle throughout the 2:28 game time, a grand slam homer from Devin Alvey proved to be the difference and ended the Tiger season at 18-16-1.
Walks to three Greyhounds set the stage for Alvey who took a pitch over the wall in left field to end the game. Jacksboro Coach Blake Belcher said he couldn’t have been prouder of his troops, who may have started a new tradition of Tiger baseball.
“These kids have done a lot for Jacksboro baseball,” Belcher said. “Baseball wasn’t important around here for about 10 years and now it is again.”
Belcher said this has been one of the best groups to come through in a while. Reliever Payton Laake gave up the home run but Belcher said he was proud of the way Laake went after arguably Peaster’s best hitter.
“He had no choice but to go after him and he went right at him with the freshest arm we had at that point,” Belcher said.
