Tigerettes rout Iowa Park
IOWA PARK – After a tough loss Saturday in the Glen Rose Tournament championship, Jacksboro decided to show Iowa Park what a tough loss feels like Tuesday evening.
The Tigerettes got on top of the host Lady Hawks early and may have found a new offensive weapon in the process in a 61-36 win. Jacksboro goes to 7-4 with the win.
In her first substantial varsity action of the year, junior Morgyn Green displayed a solid knack for the boards and bucket with a 13-point outing which drew praise for Jacksboro Coach Todd Matlock.
“She played very well offensively,” Matlock said. “I was very proud of her.”
All 13 points came in the final two quarters when the Tigerettes began to pull away. Jacksboro jumped out to an 11-8 lead after one with senior post Leah Plaster scoring all six of her points in the frame. Hadlee Richardson and Jordan Nichols had two points each.
Nichols had two three-pointers as part of a personal eight-point second quarter. Baylee Thompson added four points as the Tigerettes extended their lead to 25-18 at halftime.
Green led the Tigerettes with seven points in the third. Nichols added four as did Thompson while holding the Lady Hawks to just six points. Jacksboro led 41-24 heading into the fourth.
The Tigerette offense roared in the fourth quarter, Jacksboro scoring 20 points. Senior guard Trinity Tisdale, who had just two points in the first three frames, led the squad with eight in the final frame. Green added six courtesy of a pair of treys. Richardson had another three-pointer with reserve Destiny Thompson adding a bucket.
Nichols had 15 points to lead Jacksboro. Tisdale added 10.
Jacksboro opens play in the Peaster Tournament Thursday with a pair of games. The girls play at 10 a.m. vs. Class 6A Fort Worth Paschal and 1 p.m. vs. Whitewright.
