Thompson sets school record at 8-3A Meet
Jacksboro’s track teams competed well in the first day of the District 8-3A track meet Monday at Tiger Stadium.
Field events and running prelims were held Monday with the running finals set for Thursday. 1st race is set for 5:30 p.m.
The top four finishers qualify for area April 19. Sophomore Baylee Thompson won both the discus, setting a school record with a 123’8” throw, and the shot put with a 38’ 1/4” effort. Leah Plaster qualified for area in the shot put, finishing second in the event with a 36’1”.
Freshman Hadlee Richardson also qualified for area in the triple jump with a 32’ leap.
On the boys' side, Javier Palomar will represent the host school at area after a fourth-place finish in the 3,200-meter run in 11:04.72. Several Tigers also picked up team points but will not represent at area, including Daylan Valles in the 3,200-meters, finishing fifth in 11:18.66.
Other fifth-place finishes came from Seth Isbell in the discus (123’4”), Ty Rodgers in the pole vault (9’) and Logan Snider in the shot put (38’3 1/4”). Sixth-place finishes were picked up by Josh Wells in the shot put (38’ 2 3/4”) and Fernando Piedra in the triple jump (39’6 3/4”)
