Softball falls to Paradise, 3-1

PARADISE – In a game with first place in District 8-3A on the line, it wasn’t too surprising on who would get the start in the pitching circle for Jacksboro.

Senior Hanah Drennan, who came on in relief in the first meeting with Paradise and struck out seven of the nine batters she faced, got the nod last Friday and responded in kind. Drennan allowed just one run on two hits over the first four innings to keep her teammates in the fray with the district leaders.

The host Lady Panthers eventually showed why they are on top, striking for a pair of fifth-inning runs on three hits to pull away and post a 3-1 victory over the second-place visitors. The Tigerettes are 5-3 in the loop and 13-9 overall while Paradise goes to 7-1 and 14-4.

Jacksboro Coach John Bennett said stranding runners in scoring position killed his squad’s chances.
