SB girls win 4th straight
NOCONA – The Tigerette train keeps motoring on.
Using an 11-run fourth inning to break open a close game, Jacksboro won its fourth straight District 8-3A contest with an 18-5, five-inning victory over Nocona Tuesday afternoon. The win, which put the Tigerettes at 4-1 in the loop and 12-7 overall, tied the school record for overall victories in a season. Nocona slips to 0-5 and 4-8-1 with the loss.
Jacksboro Coach John Bennett said his squad finally got rolling in the decisive inning.
“That’s how we’re supposed to play,” Bennett said after the 1:51 contest. “We just weren’t at our best today in any facet of the game.”
Jacksboro slapped out 13 hits and took advantage of six Lady Indian miscues, three of the errors coming in the fourth inning. Hadlee Richardson beat out an infield single and Carly Hart reached on an error to get things started.
Richardson was forced at third in place of Hanah Drennan. An error, which brought Leah Plaster aboard, plated Hart with Destiny Thompson’s single and error scoring two more runs for a 9-5 lead.
