Midget FB squad falls to Holliday in Final
In a defensive struggle throughout, Jacksboro’s midget football team came within a two-point conversion of being Top of Texas Champs but Holliday picked up the lone conversion of the game and made it stick in a 14-12 win over the Tigers Saturday at Tiger Stadium.
Jacksboro ends its year at 8-2 with both losses to the visiting Eagles (10-0), one to open the year and the other to close it. The Tigers’ offense had its issues early with its first two drives ending in short punts. Fortunately, the Purple defense, led by Jett Davenport was able to keep the Eagles out of the end zone until a Cooper Turner six-yard TD run up the gut with just six seconds left in the first half.
Jacksboro had a trick up its sleeve before the half with Lando Belcher finding Casey Swan with a 64-yard halfback pass as time expired in the half. The conversion failed to keep the game knotted at intermission.
