JMS boys compete in Holliday
HOLLIDAY – Jacksboro Middle School’s boys ‘A’ basketball teams competed in a tournament here Saturday.
The 7th-grade bunch finished third with a 2-1 overall record. The Tigers lost the first game to the host Eagles, 37-18. Holliday led 6-0 after one and extended the lead to 20-2 at the half. Each team scored seven points in the third with Holliday outscoring the Purple 10-9 in the fourth.
Jacksboro was led by Lando Belcher with seven points and Kaleem Howard with four tallies.
The Tigers rebounded in their next game with a 34-26 win over Haskell. The Indians led 11-4 after one but Jacksboro cut the deficit to 14-11 at the half. Jacksboro took a 26-24 lead after three with a 15-point third quarter and extended the 26-24 lead by outscoring Haskell 8-2 in the final stanza.
Peyton Kinman had eight of his 13 in the third to pace the Tigers while Belcher had five of his seven points in the decisive third quarter as well.
