Jacksboro finishes fourth in tournament
After a three-game sweep of Tigerettes Classic opponents to open, things went downhill Saturday as Jacksboro’s softball team lost a pair in the Gold bracket to finish fourth.
Boyd 9, Jacksboro 0 (five innings)
Boyd slapped out 11 hits, including two homers, to move on to the Championship game vs. Vernon Northside.
The Lady ‘Jackets scored twice in the first, added two more in the second and five in the fifth off Avery Bennett. Jacksboro had just three hits but picked up four walks in the contest to keep things interesting.
Alex Holman walked with two gone in the first but a groundout back to the pitcher ended the threat.
With one gone in the third, Destiny Valles doubled to left and moved to third on Hadlee Richardson’s single. Richardson went to second on the throw. The next two hitters were retired to keep Jacksboro off the board.
In the Tigerettes fourth, Harlee Richardson singled with one gone but was forced at second in place of Morgyn Green. Green was retired for leaving the base early to end the frame.
In the fifth, Makenna McAnear opened with a walk and moved to second on Jaci Gann’s sacrifice. Valles walked and moved to second on Hadlee Richardson’s sacrifice.
Bennett then drew a walk to field the pond, but a grounder forced the runner at third to end the game on time limit.
