Jacksboro clinches playoff spot
Friday night at home, in a tight game with visiting Paradise, the Tigerettes supported leading scorer Baylee Thompson with a big second quarter that allowed Jacksboro to pull away and post a 54-33 win.
With the win, which puts Jacksboro at 8-3 in District 7-3A and 16-15 overall, the Tigerettes clinched a playoff spot. The support was something coach Kyle Wood really liked to see.
“I thought we really communicated well tonight and played defense when we weren’t shooting well,” Wood offered. “The support we got in the second quarter allowed us to get rolling.”.
The Tigerettes’ solid shooting continued to open the third quarter as Brynn Pardue, Traci Berend, Green and a Holman 3-pointer converted on consecutive shots as the lead ballooned to 23. Berend also hit 3-4 free throws as part of an 8-point night.
“Traci has started to relax and played really well for us of late,” Wood said.
Rhett Rollans got in the scorebook to give the Tigerettes their biggest lead at 25 early in the fourth.
Despite shooting 35% in the second half, the Lady Panthers shot just 24% for the game while Jacksboro converted 39% for the contest.
Thompson had 15 points with Green adding 10 to pace Jacksboro.
